Save from TikTok videos

Save TikTok videos, and remember what you learned

Share a TikTok to Recl from the TikTok app, or save it from tiktok.com in Chrome. Recl uses the video's captions, or transcribes the speech of clips up to three minutes long, and keeps what was said as text or a short summary, filed under its topics and brought back after 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 and 60 days.

Steps checked against the app on 23 October 2026.

How to save a TikTok to Recl

On iPhone or Android

  1. Open the video in TikTok and tap Share (the arrow).
  2. Scroll the share row to More (the label varies by phone) to open your phone's share sheet, and pick Recl.
  3. Recl saves it in a sheet over TikTok; tap Done to keep watching.

In Chrome on a computer

  1. Install the Recl extension from the Chrome Web Store and connect it to your account (one visit to app.recl.app/extension/connect while signed in).
  2. Open the video on tiktok.com and click the Recl chip on the page.
  3. Choose Summarize for the full save (a paid feature in the extension), or Bookmark to keep the link.

With the link

  1. In TikTok, tap Share, then Copy link.
  2. Paste it into the + tab in the Recl app, or the save box on app.recl.app.

What Recl does with a TikTok

The tip, written down

A favourite keeps the clip; Recl keeps what it said. It reads the captions, or transcribes the speech of clips up to three minutes long, so the recipe, the shortcut or the explanation is there as text.

Short clips stay word for word

When what was said is short, Recl keeps it verbatim instead of rewriting it. Longer videos get a summary with the key points.

Out of the feed, into topics

Each TikTok is filed under the topics it covers, next to the YouTube videos and articles on the same subject, so it doesn't sink back into a feed.

Brought back before you forget

The key ideas come back as a recall card after 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 and 60 days. One tap marks a card reviewed and moves it to the next, longer gap; after the last step it stops coming back.

Photo posts too

A photo post is saved from its caption, and from its image when there is no text.

Good to know

  • Recl can only read public videos.
  • Speech is transcribed for clips up to three minutes long. A longer video without captions is saved from its caption text.
  • Search by meaning in the Chrome extension covers saved YouTube videos, not TikToks. Ask still finds a TikTok by what its summary says.

Frequently asked questions

Does Recl need my TikTok account?
No. You share the video's link to Recl; there is nothing to connect.
Does Recl download the TikTok?
No. Recl keeps the link, a cover image, the text and the summary. The video stays on TikTok.
What happens to a TikTok with no talking, only music?
Recl saves it from the caption. If the caption is empty too, it describes the post from its cover image, so you still know what you saved.
