Release notes

Every meaningful change we ship to Recl, in reverse chronological order. Follow along on @recl_app for weekly build updates.

New

Choose: full AI summary or a quick bookmark

Saving an article now asks what you actually want. Pick Summarize for the full deep-read treatment, or Bookmark to just stash the link for later. Saving never blocks the UI anymore — drop a link and keep moving while it processes in the background.

  • Summarize-vs-bookmark action menu on web, mobile, and the browser extension.
  • Non-blocking capture — a persistent processing card tracks progress on mobile.
  • Pro paywall surfaces cleanly on AI-only nugget tabs.
Improved

Smarter, more controllable notifications

Notifications got a major upgrade: choose exactly which types you want to receive, and tapping one now takes you straight to the right screen instead of just opening the app.

  • Per-type notification preferences — turn off what you don't want.
  • Tap a notification to jump directly to the exact item.
  • Cleaner, better-organized Android notifications.
Improved

A warm, readable redesign across the whole product

We rebuilt the look and feel around a warm-white editorial theme — serif headlines, calm ivory panels, and high-contrast text that's easy to read for long sessions. Web, mobile, and the marketing site now share one consistent design language.

  • Warm-white theme with serif headlines on web and mobile.
  • Accessibility sweep: darker body text and AA-legible onboarding copy.
  • New 'Paper & Ink' marketing site with reliable, fast-loading imagery.
New

A guided first run for new accounts

New users now get a friendly first-run flow: a quick survey, nudges to grab the extension and app, an animated 'add your first video' walkthrough, and a seeded demo nugget so your library is never empty on day one.

  • Survey + extension/app install nudges.
  • Animated 12-frame add-your-first-video walkthrough.
  • Pro-tool upsell appears in-context when you reach a paid feature.
New

A real docs & legal hub

Everything you need to trust and understand Recl now lives at /docs — detailed privacy, terms, GDPR, data-retention, subprocessors, account-deletion, cookies, and refund pages, plus how-to guides.

New

Browser extension v1.1 + creator-style recall on chat

The extension got a full overhaul — a cleaner popup, zero-click connect, and one-tap save from any site into per-site folders. On Telegram and Discord, recall now actually chains: review one card, get the next, with quick commands for quizzes, scheduling, and semantic search.

  • Extension: redesigned popup, zero-click connect, per-site folders.
  • Chat bots: fixed the Reviewed button, added review chaining (up to 5 cards).
  • New chat commands: /quiz, /week, /every, /quiet, and semantic /search.
Improved

New onboarding funnel + clear, honest pricing

We rebuilt onboarding (v3) and cleaned up billing end-to-end. One Premium plan, three simple intervals — and usage meters everywhere so you always know how much of your hours and links you've used.

  • Usage tiers: Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly — metered hours + links.
  • Hours-aware playlist import that fits as many videos as your plan allows.
  • Live usage meters on web settings and the mobile plan card.
New

Rich deep-read summaries everywhere

Video summaries leveled up into full deep reads — exec summary, action items, mental models, glossary, and key quotes with clickable timestamps. Pick the depth that fits: Short, Concise, or Elaborate, on both web and mobile.

  • 3-tier summary tabs (Short / Concise / Elaborate) on video detail.
  • Founder-format recall summaries powered by the GPT-5 family.
  • AI auto-categorizes videos into multi-niche topics.
Improved

A feed that learns what you care about

The feed now closes the signal loop. It tracks what you watch, save, follow, and dwell on, then stops repeating things you've already seen and surfaces more of what you love.

  • Affinity engine with dwell + impression signals.
  • Seen-penalty so the feed stops looping the same items.
  • Follow a creator and their content gets an instant boost.
New

Library-first feed + quizzes

The feed is now built around your library, and quizzes got serious — library collections carry banks of 30–40 questions so you can test recall daily or per attempt.

  • Library-only feed redesign on web and mobile.
  • Daily and per-attempt quiz modes.
  • Tutorial spotlight rings guide you through the app.
New

A social, Shorts-style community feed

See what everyone is saving in a global, swipeable feed. Like, comment, and share individual items, jump to the author's profile, and chat about a video right where you're watching it.

  • Global public feed of everyone's saved items.
  • Per-item like / comment / share + author profiles.
  • Community chat + AI video categorization.
New

Save from anywhere + simpler recall scoring

Install the browser extension to save from any website into per-site folders. We also simplified recall: no more 1–5 grading — just mark it Reviewed and climb a time-based leaderboard. Push notifications now nudge you when it's time to revisit something.

  • Browser extension: save from any site into per-site folders.
  • Single 'Reviewed' action replaces 1–5 scoring.
  • Push notifications nudge you when it's time to review.
New

Mobile capture, bulk delete, and a streak engine

Capture six types of content on mobile, manage your library with multi-select bulk delete and swipe-to-delete (just like archiving email), and keep your momentum going with streaks and leaderboards.

  • Six capture types: image, link, quote, note, and more.
  • Bulk delete + swipe-to-delete across videos, bookmarks, nuggets, playlists.
  • Streak engine, dual leaderboards, and a word-of-the-day.
New

The Recl mobile app + multi-platform summaries

Recl is now a real mobile app — a doom-scroll recall feed, detail screens, offline support, push notifications, and Google sign-in. Plus, you can now summarize content from Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook, not just YouTube.

  • Mobile app with feed, detail screens, offline mode, and push.
  • Multi-platform summaries: IG, TikTok, X, and Facebook.
  • Privacy and terms pages.
New

  • Segment-aware summarization for full-length videos.
  • Graceful handling of transcript rate-limits with backoff.
  • Remove videos from your library anytime.
New

Move faster with a keyboard-driven command palette, score your recall inline, and toggle library density to fit more on screen. Long reads get a table of contents and a reading-progress bar.

  • Command palette for fast navigation.
  • Library density toggle + due-now highlighting.
  • Reading table-of-contents and progress bar.
New

  • Cadence + quiet-hours settings inline.

Hello, Recl

We launched Recl (rebranded from YTRecall) at recl.app — one place to save what matters from YouTube, Telegram, and Discord, and recall it forever with spaced repetition over unified, AI-summarized items.
