Recl is on the App Store

Recl is now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, next to Google Play for Android. Sign in with Google or Apple, and your library, plan and recall schedule are the same on every device.

• Save from the iPhone share sheet in YouTube, Instagram, X, Safari and more, without leaving the app you're in.
• Works on iPhone and iPad.

Summaries in your app language

If you use Recl in a different language from the video, and the video has captions in your language, your summary now comes in your language. Everyone else still gets it in the language the video was made in.

• Videos are summarised from the language actually spoken in them, not from an English subtitle track.
• Videos with auto-dubbed audio are summarised in their original language.

Re-sharing something you already saved

Share a link you saved before and Recl now says Already in your library, with a button to open it, instead of scanning it all over again. You can still change its folder or note.

Better summaries for X and Instagram videos

Video posts on X are now summarised from the video's own captions, and short clips on X and Instagram get a full transcript even when they have no captions.

• Short Instagram reels are transcribed, not just summarised from the caption.
• Posts with no speech are summarised from their caption and cover image.
• Reddit posts are summarised from their full text.

Invite friends to Recl

Tap the gift icon on your Profile to open Invite friends. You get your own invite code and a share card with it, and the screen shows what you and your friend each get.

• Friends enter your code when they sign up. On Android it fills in by itself when they install from your link.
• Sharing a card from your profile, a save, the feed or a community post now sends the image with its caption and link in one share.

Notifications that match what's happening

Save notifications now tell you what is actually going on with your save, and only once.

• Summary ready arrives once per save, and only when there is a summary to read.
• No more “Still working on your summary” follow-ups.
• Tapping a notification opens the item it's about.
• Reminder wording fits your local time of day.

Save from YouTube, Instagram and your photos without leaving them

On Android, sharing a YouTube video, an Instagram reel or a photo to Recl now opens a scan sheet on top of the app you're in. Watch Recl read it, pick a folder, add a note, and tap Done to go straight back to what you were watching.

• Close the sheet any time. Recl keeps working and lets you know when the summary is ready.
• Share up to 10 photos or screenshots at once, including large photos and HEIC images.
• Shorts are ready to read sooner.
• Pages Recl can't read are saved as links, and the card says so.

Recl reads your images

Every image you save now gets a title, a one-line summary, the key takeaways, and any text that appears in the picture.

• Search your library by what's in an image, including its text.
• Browser extension 1.4: right-click any image on the web and choose Save image to Recl.

Sort your library and view it your way

Sort your whole library by newest, oldest, A to Z or Z to A, and switch Saves between a grid and a list view.

• Folders now work for every kind of save, videos and articles included.
• Deleting a folder keeps the saves that were in it.
• Recently saved cards show when a save is still processing or didn't finish.
• The feed shows an end card when you've caught up, then starts again from the top.
• Quiz answers are properly shuffled, so the right one is no longer always first.

A note on every save

Every save now has one Your note card. Write what you want to remember and add up to four images. Your text saves as you type.

• Add a note right from the share card, for videos, Shorts and articles too.
• If Android closes Recl while you take a photo for a note, the photo is recovered when you come back.
• Every save is filed into a Library topic automatically.
• Social posts get real titles instead of generic ones.

Chat replies and a weekly quiz

Reply to a specific message in Community chat. You're notified only when someone replies to you or mentions you, and you can turn that off in Settings.

• A weekly quiz built from your week's saves arrives on Sunday evening if notifications are on.
• Ask your library questions about your saves and get exact counts and dates.

A new logo, and Recl in 20 languages

Recl has a new look: a bold white brain on a deep blue tile, now on the app, this website and the browser extension.

• A short launch animation and a dark splash screen.
• The app is translated into 20 languages.
• A new animated look for your knowledge base.

Word of the Day on your home screen

Recl now has Android home-screen widgets: Word of the Day and a saved-item widget. Add them from your launcher or from Get started in the Library.

• Delete your own messages in Community chat.

• A short guide shows how to pin Recl to the top of your share sheet.

Ask your library, with sources

Ask a question in the app and Recl answers from your own saves. Answers now cite their sources with numbered chips, and each source shows its thumbnail and the passage the answer came from.

• Answers use headings and lists so they're easier to read.
• On the web, the Library is a new workspace: search with Cmd-K, browse a grid of saves, and preview any of them in a side panel.
• On the web, Graph is now called Knowledge base.

A 3D knowledge base and fuller public profiles

Your knowledge base is now a 3D map you can spin and explore in the app. Public profiles show your saves grouped by topic, plus your quote cards.

• Cover images for Instagram, TikTok and other social saves no longer go blank after a while.
• Saves without a cover get a clean tile instead of a broken image.
• A new first-run setup that adapts to what you want to use Recl for.

A rebuilt Recl app

The mobile app was rebuilt with a new design. The Library is organised into Topics, Saves and Folders, and your profile has shelves for what you collect.

Folders by site, with logos

The Library has a Folders view. Saves are grouped by the site they came from, each folder shows that site's logo, and you can open a folder to see what's inside.

• Switch views from the search row.
• Links from the same site land in the same folder automatically.
• On the web, upload images straight into a folder.

Highlights, and a feed built around your library

Long-press any text in a summary to highlight it, pick a colour and add a note. Highlights work on every summary length.

• Select exactly the words you want; your notes show as chips on the summary.
• The feed starts from your library and your own saves, and you can mix in the community.
• Word of the Day has richer entries, one for every day of the year.
• The leaderboard keeps your own row pinned and shows when it last updated.

Faster saving, and quotes and notes in your library

On Android, saving from the share sheet now happens in the background. Recl confirms the save right away and lets you know when the summary is ready.

Sign in with Apple, and delete your account in the app

You can now sign in to Recl with Apple on the web. If you already have an account with the same email, it's linked automatically.

• Delete your account from inside the app, under Help.

Choose: full AI summary or a quick bookmark

Saving an article now asks what you actually want. Pick Summarize for the full deep-read treatment, or Bookmark to just stash the link for later. Saving never blocks the UI anymore — drop a link and keep moving while it processes in the background.

Smarter, more controllable notifications

Notifications got a major upgrade: choose exactly which types you want to receive, and tapping one now takes you straight to the right screen instead of just opening the app.

A warm, readable redesign across the whole product

We rebuilt the look and feel around a warm-white editorial theme — serif headlines, calm ivory panels, and high-contrast text that's easy to read for long sessions. Web, mobile, and the marketing site now share one consistent design language.
