Account & data deletion
Last updated June 12, 2026
You can permanently delete your Recl account and all data associated with it at any time. This page is the canonical deletion instruction set referenced from our Google Play and app store listings.
Deletion is permanent and immediate. There is no recovery window, no “soft delete”, and no need to contact support first.
1. Delete from the web app
- Sign in at app.recl.app.
- Go to Settings → Danger zone.
- Click Delete account and confirm.
Your saved videos, bookmarks, nuggets, folders, notes, quiz and recall history, sessions, extension tokens, messaging connections, and feed data are removed from the production database immediately.
2. Delete from the Android app
- Open the Recl app and go to Profile → Settings.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
- If you have an active Google Play subscription, also cancel it in Play Store → Subscriptions (deleting the account does not auto-cancel a Play subscription).
3. Delete by email
If you can't access your account, email hello@recl.app from the email address you signed up with. We verify ownership and complete the deletion within 30 days (usually much faster).
4. What is deleted, what is retained
- Deleted immediately: account profile, saved content and summaries linked to you, notes, quotas and usage counters, sessions and tokens, messaging identifiers, push tokens, feed signals.
- Expires within 35 days: residual copies in encrypted rolling backups.
- Retained where legally required: billing and tax records linked to past payments, and minimal fraud-prevention records — kept only as long as the law requires, then deleted. See Data retention.
5. Deleting individual items instead
You don't have to delete the whole account: every saved video, bookmark, nugget, and folder can be deleted individually from the library, and messaging channels and extension tokens can be disconnected from Settings at any time.
