A Zenfetch alternative

Zenfetch is a Chrome extension for saving pages, summarizing them and chatting with what you saved — but as of October 2026 its website no longer loads and the extension was last updated in May 2024. If you used it to keep and question what you read, Recl does that, works on your phone too, and adds quizzes and spaced recall.

What we can see about Zenfetch

We have not found an official shutdown announcement, so here is only what anyone can check. As of October 2026, zenfetch.com returns an error page. The Zenfetch extension in the Chrome Web Store was last updated in May 2024. And Y Combinator’s company page for Zenfetch now describes GovEagle, an AI product for government contractors.

None of that proves the extension has stopped working, but it is not a tool we would build a library on. If you rely on it, move the saves that matter somewhere that is actively maintained.

Moving your saves to Recl

Recl has no bulk importer, so start with the saves you actually return to. Paste each link into Recl on the web or share it from your phone; Recl reads it, writes the summary with the key points, files it under its topics and turns it into quiz questions that come back with the gap between reviews growing through 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 and 60 days.

Where Recl fits better

  • You used Zenfetch to save pages and ask questions about them, and want a tool that is actively maintained.
  • You also save video and social posts — YouTube, reels, TikToks, X — not only web pages.
  • You want what you saved to come back as quiz questions on a schedule.
  • You want to save from your phone as well as from Chrome.

Where another tool may fit better

  • You want an ongoing free plan and extensions for several browsers — see our Recl vs Recall page.
  • You mainly want a well-organized bookmark archive — see Recl vs Raindrop.
  • You research a fixed set of documents for one project — see Recl vs NotebookLM.
  • You want a reader for full articles — see our Pocket alternative page.
